Shockwave therapy for pain that has not responded to anything else

Shockwave therapy uses acoustic pressure waves to stimulate blood flow and restart healing in tendons and soft tissue that have stalled. It is one of the most effective options we offer for chronic plantar fasciitis, tendonitis and scar tissue.

About shockwave therapy

The waves create a controlled micro-trauma in the tissue, which triggers new blood vessel growth and a fresh healing response in areas the body had stopped repairing. Patients often feel a reduction in pain within the first few sessions.

Treatment takes only a few minutes per area and requires no anesthesia, no injections and no downtime — you walk out and continue your day. Most plans run four to six sessions spaced about a week apart, paired with the loading exercises that make the results last.

We use shockwave for heel pain, Achilles and patellar tendinopathy, tennis and golfer's elbow, rotator cuff tendonitis, shin splints and hip tendon pain at both our Springfield and Ironbound clinics.

Common questions

Does shockwave therapy hurt?
Most patients describe it as an intense tapping sensation. Intensity is adjustable and the treatment lasts only a few minutes.
How many sessions will I need?
Four to six is typical for chronic tendon pain, though we reassess at every visit.
Is there recovery time?
No downtime. Mild soreness for a day is normal, and you can continue normal activity.
