If your heel, elbow or Achilles pain has lasted months, you may have come across shockwave therapy in NJ. It is one of the tools we use for exactly that situation.
How it works
A handheld device delivers acoustic pressure waves into the tissue. Those waves increase local blood flow, stimulate the cells responsible for tendon repair and reduce the sensitivity of the area.
Conditions that respond well
- Plantar fasciitis and chronic heel pain
- Achilles tendinopathy
- Tennis and golfer's elbow
- Patellar and gluteal tendinopathy
- Calcific shoulder tendinopathy
What a session is like
Treatment takes about five to ten minutes on the target area, and it is uncomfortable rather than painful. Most protocols run three to six sessions, spaced about a week apart.
The part people skip
Shockwave calms the tissue. Progressive loading rebuilds it. We always pair the two — tendons need graded strength work to tolerate running, lifting and standing again.
