Summer is when mileage jumps and when clinics fill with runners. If you are looking into running injury physical therapy in NJ, the cause is usually load, not form.
The four injuries we see most
- Runner's knee and IT band pain
- Achilles and calf strain
- Shin pain and stress reactions
- Gluteal and hamstring tendon pain
The rules that prevent most of them
- Increase weekly mileage gradually, and keep hard days genuinely hard and easy days genuinely easy.
- Strength train twice a week. Calves, hamstrings and glutes carry the load running creates.
- Treat heat as training stress. A humid New Jersey July run is not the same effort as the same pace in April.
- Do not run through pain that worsens during a run or lingers the next morning.
What rehab looks like
We assess strength, single-leg control and running mechanics, then keep you running at a modified volume wherever it is safe. Complete rest rarely solves a running injury — it just delays the same load problem.
Our Newark clinic has turf space for return-to-run testing. See the Ironbound clinic.
